How to take advantage of lean times

Emma Thompson generates sales from an article placed in FOCUS magazine on the merits of coaching in tough times. FOCUS is a quarterly publication issued to public sector decision-makers.

A call was received within days of an advertorial being placed. As a result of a successful follow-up, a coaching skills workshop was held in October 2009 with a second planned for this year.

If your message is targeted and it hits the audience at the right time - the response can be immediate. Below is the text from the insertion.

Coaching for Tough Times

Coaching support meets the challenges of the tough economic climate, says Emma Thompson

Let's not deny that the next 12 months will be challenging. The public sector will be increasingly faced with working smarter and harder to meet efficiency savings and targets in the light of reduced income and the negative impact on reserves due to the failure of the Icelandic banks, fluctuating share prices and the low bank base rate.

Despite the near completion of the Local Government Review, a significant amount of transition remains. The prospect of redundancies creates the need for closure to allow those retaining their roles to move on and for those that are departing to review their options and establish a sense of purpose and focus.

Coaching can be used to make staff more productive in the face of uncertainty and provide employers with a tool for employee retention. This is why SOLACE Enterprises is offering, alongside its valuable Career Matters service for those affected by restructuring, a two day coaching for performance workshop aimed at providing managers with the confidence and skills to hold those necessary conversations with their teams to retain the high level of productivity and customer service that is expected from the public sector by the community it serves.

Feedback from people who have taken part in the workshop include:

"A great opportunity to reflect on your management style and hone your skills to get the best from your staff"  and ...

"Provides you with really useful skills/ a toolkit which can be adapted to your own situation."

SOLACE Enterprises is happy to provide the workshop for several organisations in the same region to create an affordable solution or tailor it to individual organisations to meet local needs.
